Text Box: Geothermal systems use the earth’s soil, bedrock and water to cost effectively heat your home, business or institution.  The temperature of the earth’s shallow soil and bedrock is typically near the region’s mean annual atmospheric temperature, which in most regions range between 45o and 75o F.  Using a relatively simple application of buried loops, heat can be transferred between the earth’s subsurface materials to heat and cool a building at considerable savings compared to conventional oil, gas or electric systems.  The DOE reports that by using a more efficient geothermal system, annual utility bills can be reduced by 30% to 60%.  These lower operating and maintenance costs allow for a return on the initial geothermal installation costs within two to ten years, and the 25 to 50 year life expectancy of the system provides for a substantial long term savings in energy costs.  Making geothermal heating and cooling an attractive cost saving and reliable solution to a new or existing building.

TGS provides thermal conductivity testing and loop system design to assist in designing an efficient geothermal system based on the site specific conditions of the project.
